Argentina Trade Surplus Widens in August

Argentina’s trade surplus widened to $2.19 billion in August 2026, an increase of $746 million compared with August 2025. Exports reached $8.88 billion, up 12.4% year over year. All export categories posted higher values than in August 2025, with the exception of primary products, which fell 14.2%. Energy and fuel exports surged 41.2%, exports of manufactured industrial goods rose 18%, and exports of manufactured agricultural goods increased 16.7%.

Imports totaled $6.70 billion, a 3.6% year-over-year increase. Among economic-use categories, fuels and lubricants registered the strongest rise, jumping 68.5%. Imports of intermediate goods grew 13.4%, capital goods were up 3.1%, while purchases of consumer goods declined 5.1%.
