Italy’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) jumped to 2.0% month-over-month in September 2026, sharply higher than the marginal 0.1% increase recorded in August, according to data updated on 30 September 2026.

The latest figures mark a notable acceleration in consumer price growth compared with the previous month. In August 2026, prices were virtually flat on a month-over-month basis, but September’s reading indicates a strong pickup in inflation momentum as measured by the HICP, the European Union’s harmonised gauge for cross-country comparisons.
