FX.co ★ Croatia Retail Sales Growth Eases in August

Retail sales in Croatia increased by 3.1% year-on-year in August 2026, slowing from a seven-month high of 3.6% recorded in July. Growth in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco eased to 3.5% from 3.9%, while sales of non-food products rose by 2.7%, down from 4.4% in the previous month. Trade excluding automotive fuels and lubricants in specialized stores also weakened, with growth of 3.5% compared with 3.9% in July.

Sales of automotive fuels and lubricants declined more sharply, contracting by 9.9% after a 2.7% increase in July. By contrast, internet and mail-order sales returned to growth, rising by 2.6% following a 3.6% drop in the previous month. On a monthly basis, retail trade expanded by 0.6% in August, easing from a 1.4% gain in July. Over the January–August period, retail sales were up 2.4% compared with the same period a year earlier.
