The RealClearMarkets/TIPP Economic Optimism Index rose to 46.8 in October 2026, up from 45.6 in September and defying market expectations for a decline to 44.5. This reading is the highest since March. The improvement was broad-based, with gains across all components of the survey. The six-month outlook index increased to 42.7 from 41.3, while the personal financial outlook index edged up to 53.4 from 52.7. In addition, the index measuring confidence in federal economic policy climbed to 44.4 from 42.9, despite heightened volatility in the Treasury market.
