US stock indices ended higher on Friday, supported by expectations for a strong earnings season. The S&P 500 gained 0.6% and the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.5%, leaving both benchmarks close to their record highs, while the Dow advanced 423 points. Broad-based strength in corporate results has been a key driver of equity performance this year.
Wall Street’s biggest banks are projected to report nearly $19 billion in stock-trading revenue when they release quarterly earnings next week. Goldman Sachs (+1.4%), which reports on Tuesday, is expected to deliver $5.1 billion, followed by Morgan Stanley (+1.4%) with an estimated $4.9 billion. JPMorgan (+0.5%) is forecast to post $4.5 billion, and Bank of America (+1.4%) is projected to generate $2.6 billion.
AI-focused hyperscalers advanced on optimism that OpenAI’s annualized revenue could surpass $70 billion by year-end. Alphabet climbed 1%, Microsoft gained 2.4% and Amazon rose 3.3%.
For the week, the S&P 500 added 0.9%, the Nasdaq slipped 0.1% and the Dow increased by 585 points.
