European equity markets were poised to open lower on Tuesday, extending the previous session’s declines as renewed selling in global technology and artificial intelligence stocks undermined investor sentiment. Rising oil prices added to worries about inflation and the trajectory of interest rates. At the same time, investors continued to track geopolitical risks across Europe, where governments are struggling to contain widespread unrest over inadequate public services and surging living costs—unrest that turned violent over the weekend. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde also cautioned that rising bond yields, driven by mounting concerns over government debt, could weigh on both economic growth and inflation. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 futures were down 0.7%, while Stoxx 600 futures slipped 0.5%.
