Mexico’s manufacturing business confidence rose slightly to 48.4 in October 2026 from a revised 48.1 in September. Nonetheless, the index stayed below the neutral 50-point mark for the 19th consecutive month, signaling ongoing pessimism in the sector. Sentiment toward investment conditions deteriorated, with that subindex falling 0.4 points to 34.1. In contrast, the index measuring the current economic situation gained 0.3 points to 48.2, and expectations for the overall economy inched up 0.1 points to 52.2. At the same time, manufacturers were more upbeat about their own operations: the index of current business conditions climbed 1.1 points to 51.4, while the index of future business conditions increased 0.5 points to 55.9.
