Egypt Inflation Rate at 9-Month Low of 12.7%

Egypt’s annual urban inflation slowed for the third consecutive month, easing to 12.7% in October 2026 from 13.9% in September. This marked the lowest rate since January, as the impact of earlier fuel price hikes continued to dissipate. In early March, the government raised fuel prices by about 14% to 17% across a broad range of petroleum products, its first such increase of the year amid elevated global oil prices. As a result, inflation climbed to a ten-month high of 15.2% in March. Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom said the latest inflation reading signaled easing price pressures and improved overall price stability.
