Austria Wholesale Inflation Remains at 3-Year High

Wholesale prices in Austria rose by 10.2% year-on-year in October 2026, matching September’s pace and remaining at their highest growth rate since February 2023. The increase was largely driven by sharp price gains in other liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (70.6%), motor spirit (41.5%), plastics and rubber in primary forms (31.3%), waste and scrap (27.3%), and non-ferrous metals (20.2%).

Notable price increases were also recorded for information and communication equipment (19.3%), grain, seeds and animal feeds (18.1%), solid fuels (17.5%), other machinery and equipment (16.2%), iron and steel (13.0%), and fertilisers and agrochemical products (11.6%).

By contrast, prices declined for live animals (-8.5%), dairy products, eggs and edible oils and fats (-2.0%), and hides and leather (-1.2%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices fell by 0.2% in October, reversing a six-month-high increase of 0.9% in September, mainly reflecting lower fuel prices.
