US President Donald Trump acknowledged that gasoline prices and energy tariffs in the country are likely to remain elevated in the near term amid the ongoing military operation in the Middle East. In an interview with WABC radio, the American leader said the campaign is progressing successfully and that US citizens understand and support the White House’s key goal — preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. According to the president, American society “sees, appreciates, and respects” these efforts despite the forced rise in pump prices.

According to the National Automobile Association, fuel costs in the United States have surged by a quarter over the past year: the average price per gallon (3.79 liters) increased to $4.10 compared with $3.10 a year earlier. Prices have been appreciating despite Trump’s assertions that US forces have effectively established full control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which the president previously described as an American‑controlled zone.

Earlier, the White House chief repeatedly pointed to the critical state of Iran’s economy, citing runaway inflation at record levels, unpaid military wages, and the paralysis of the Islamic Republic’s maritime trade amid the US blockade.
