China urges US to stop pressure on Chinese companies

Beijing can now feel the wind of change and is planning to establish new relations with Washington. Donald Trump’s aggressive stance against China is likely to be revised by the new White House administration. The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China hopes for a truce with the United States. It is willing to hold a dialogue with the US in order to find out when Washington is going to reduce pressure on Chinese companies.

"China urges the United States to stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies. The United States is ignoring the facts. Recognizing certain Chinese companies as controlled by the military does not have any evidence behind it and does not correspond to the legal theory. The Chinese side is strongly opposed to this," a spokesperson at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

However, it is too early to disregard Donald Trump who started the trade war with China. He still has a couple of weeks left to make some tough moves and deprive Joe Biden of an opportunity to change the rhetoric of the current US administration. Perhaps, China simply rushed to celebrate the victory as a new package of punitive sanctions still has good chances to be implemented. Consequently, the discussion of the issue in the Congress is likely to linger on.
