Bill Ackman auctions off lunch meeting

Recently, visitors to the charity website Charitybuzz have come across an unusual lot - private lunch with Bill Ackman, hedge fund billionaire and founder of Pershing Square Capital Management. The thing is that it is Bill Ackman who is auctioning off the opportunity to meet him for an hour of conversation over lunch. The bidding was launched on Thursday, November 19, on the auction site Charitybuzz. The bidder who offers the highest price will meet the celebrity investor in person. The winner can also discuss the world of finance with the billionaire over the Zoom platform. Bill Ackman promised to make the meeting “worth the person’s while.” Notably, the raised funds will go to charity, in particular, to the David Lynch Foundation. The money from this year’s auction will support the frontline workers of the COVID-19 crisis as well as those who suffered from the virus. It is the third time Bill Ackman takes part in this charity auction. In 2018, Canadian entrepreneur Andrew Wilkinson bid $57,700 to dine with the billionaire investor. Last year, the auction raised $75,000, but the lunch with the winner was postponed due to the pandemic.
