Japan Inflation Data Due On Friday

Japan is set to release June consumer price data on Friday, marking a relatively light day for economic activity in the Asia-Pacific region. In May, overall inflation increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month and 2.9 percent year-on-year, while the core Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw an annual rise of 2.5 percent.

New Zealand will report its Q2 consumer price index and June credit card spending figures. Expectations are for overall inflation to climb by 0.6 percent quarter-on-quarter and 3.5 percent year-on-year, following a 0.6 percent quarterly increase and a 4.0 percent annual rise in the previous quarter. Credit card spending was unchanged year-on-year in May.

Malaysia is scheduled to release preliminary data for Q2 gross domestic product (GDP). In the preceding quarter, GDP grew by 4.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
