Bulgaria’s Inflation Remains Elevated at 4%

In March 2025, Bulgaria's annual inflation rate remained steady at 4%, consistent with the rate recorded in the previous month, thereby reaching the highest point since December 2023. This inflation surge was predominantly fueled by increased price growth across various essential sectors: food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a rise to 5.3% from 4.6% in February; housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels experienced an increase to 6.2% from 5.6%; and health sector costs climbed to 3.4% from 2.7%. Conversely, the rate of inflation decreased in areas such as recreation and culture, which fell to 2.4% from 6.1%, transport dropped to 0.5% from 2.1%, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco marginally decreased to 7.1% from 7.4%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices in March rose by 0.2%, following a 0.6% rise in February.
