In June 2025, Bulgaria experienced a 3.1% decline in tourist arrivals compared to the same period the previous year, marking a significant shift from the 0.5% increase noted in the prior month. This downturn was evident in the reduction of both business-related travel, which decreased by 9.3%, and leisure and excursion travel, which saw a 4.8% drop. Conversely, trips for other unspecified purposes slightly increased by 0.5%. The European Union constituted a substantial portion, at 56.6%, of total visits to Bulgaria, with Romania leading at 30%, followed by Germany (16.9%), Greece (13%), and Poland (11.7%). Non-EU European countries accounted for 38.1% of the total, with a significant influx of visitors coming from Turkey, making up 44% of that segment.
