The European Union and Indonesia are poised to formalize a trade agreement on September 23, as reported by the Financial Times, referencing sources in Brussels and Jakarta. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic is scheduled to travel to Jakarta for the official signing ceremony. This agreement is a component of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), following a significant political advancement announced in July by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Indonesia has indicated that the deal will eliminate tariffs on 80% of its exports within one to two years after coming into effect. Additionally, the FT highlighted that import tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on both parties expedited the pace of these negotiations.
