FX.co ★ Eurozone Jobless Rate Edges Up from Record Low

In August 2025, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the Euro Area rose slightly to 6.3%, up from a record low of 6.2% in July, which defied expectations of stability. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 11,000 from the previous month, reaching a total of 10.842 million. On the other hand, the youth unemployment rate, representing job seekers under the age of 25, remained at 14% in August, the lowest since March 2023 and consistent with the revised figure for July. Within the region's major economies, Spain (10.3%), France (7.5%), and Italy (6%) experienced the highest unemployment rates, while Germany (3.7%) and the Netherlands (3.9%) recorded the lowest. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was similarly positioned at 6.3%. In the wider context of the European Union, the unemployment rate was 5.9%.
