France's agriculture ministry has declared a prohibition on cattle exports and a temporary halt to events involving cattle, such as bullfighting, in a bid to contain the outbreak of lumpy skin disease. This virus, spread by insects, impacts cattle and buffalo, leading to blister formations and a decline in milk production. Although it poses no risk to human health, the disease has the potential to instigate trade restrictions and substantial economic repercussions. These preventative measures, prompted by the initial outbreak in France, are scheduled to commence on October 18 and sustain until November 4. The government has indicated the possibility of lifting restrictions on November 5, contingent upon improvements in the situation.
