In September 2025, China's surveyed unemployment rate decreased to 5.2%, aligning with market expectations and dropping from August's six-month peak of 5.3%. The unemployment rate for the locally registered labor force was noted at 5.3%, while that for the migrant labor force was slightly lower, at 4.9%. Among the migrant workers, those with agricultural household registration had an unemployment rate of 4.7%. Across China's 31 major cities, the urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.2%, a modest decline of 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. Meanwhile, the average weekly working hours for employees in enterprises nationwide rose to 48.6 hours. From January through September, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate maintained an average of 5.2%.
