In October 2025, consumer price inflation in the Euro area decreased to 2.1%, aligning with market predictions and showing a slight decline from September's 2.2%. This brings it closer to the European Central Bank's targeted rate of 2%, based on preliminary figures. The price increase for food, alcohol, and tobacco moderated to 2.5% from 3.0% in the preceding month, driven by a slower rise in both processed (2.4% down from 2.6%) and unprocessed foods (3.2% down from 4.7%). Inflation for non-energy industrial goods declined to 0.6% from 0.8%, while energy costs saw a more significant decrease at -1.0% following a -0.4% fall. However, services inflation picked up for the second month in a row to reach 3.4%, the highest since April. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, remained constant at 2.4%, slightly surpassing expectations of 2.3%.
