Colombia Unemployment at 10-Month Low

In September 2025, Colombia's unemployment rate decreased to 8.2%, marking its lowest level since November 2024. This is a noticeable drop from 9.1% during the same period the previous year and is also below the anticipated market figure of 8.5%. Unemployment among women was recorded at 9.6%, while men experienced a lower rate of 7.1%. The overall count of unemployed individuals reduced by 204,000, bringing the total to 2.13 million. Notably, youth unemployment fell by 1.9 percentage points, settling at 14.6%. Employment numbers showed an increase as well, with 714,000 more people employed, raising the total workforce to 23.92 million. Manufacturing emerged as the leading sector for job growth, contributing an additional 244,000 jobs. Moreover, the labor force participation rate edged up to 63.9% from 63.5%, and the employment-to-population ratio climbed to 58.7%, compared to 57.7% one year earlier.
