ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Advertisements decreased by 2.2% in October 2025, following a revised decline of 3.5% in the previous month. This represents the fourth consecutive monthly drop, indicating a loosening in the labour market, despite persistent high inflation. Increases in retail and food sectors in anticipation of the Christmas period were offset by a significant reduction in education-related job postings. Job advertisements fell across approximately 60% of occupational categories. In September, the unemployment rate rose to a nearly four-year high of 4.5%, yet the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) continued to describe the labour market as "a little tight." On an annual scale, job advertisements declined by 7.4% but remained 8.4% above the levels observed before the pandemic.
