FX.co ★ French Construction Sector Contraction Accelerates

In October 2025, the HCOB Construction PMI in France decreased to 39.8 from 42.9 in September, indicating a quicker contraction rate within the sector and marking 41 consecutive months of decline. All three surveyed categories experienced downturns once again in October, with the declines accelerating across the board. The residential sector experienced the most significant drop since June, leading the decrease, followed by a notable reduction in commercial activity. Both new orders and employment saw their steepest declines since May 2020. Consequently, construction firms significantly reduced their purchases of building materials, registering the most pronounced decrease in nearly five and a half years.
