Sensex Ends at 2-Week High

India's BSE Sensex concluded Wednesday's trading session with an increase of approximately 0.7%, reaching a two-week high at 84,466.5. This marks the third successive day of gains. The market's positive sentiment was influenced by optimism regarding the potential resolution of the US government shutdown, expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts, and hopeful progress in US-India trade negotiations. Additionally, survey predictions indicating a strong performance by the ruling coalition, which includes Prime Minister Modi's party, further supported the upward trend. Domestically, investors were focused on inflation data and corporate earnings reports.

Information Technology stocks spearheaded the market's charge, with the sector experiencing a 2% rise. Key players such as Tech Mahindra, TCS, Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, and Infosys recorded gains ranging from 1% to 3.3%, fueled by their substantial revenue share from the US market and President Trump's remarks highlighting the need for skilled foreign workers. However, Asian Paints emerged as the standout performer with a notable 6.8% increase, following a report of over 40% growth in quarterly profits. Conversely, Tata Steel and Tata Motors PV were the principal decliners, each losing over 1%.
