FX.co ★ China Jobless Rate Lowest in Four Months

In October 2025, China's urban unemployment rate, as surveyed, dropped to 5.1%, slightly below market expectations, which predicted it would remain at September's rate of 5.2%. This rate represents the lowest level in four months. For the locally registered workforce, the unemployment rate was 5.3%, whereas the rate for migrant laborers was notably lower at 4.7%. Specifically, among those with agricultural household registrations within the migrant workforce, the unemployment rate was 4.5%. Across 31 major cities, the surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5.1%, a decline of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month. On a national scale, employees in enterprises worked an average of 48.4 hours each week. For the first ten months of the year, the average national urban surveyed unemployment rate was consistent at 5.2%.
