Norway Manufacturing Output Falls at Softer Pace

In October 2025, Norway experienced a 0.9% month-over-month decline in manufacturing production, building on a downwardly revised 1.4% decrease from the previous month. The decline was less severe in several sectors, including textiles, wearing apparel, and leather, which dropped by 1.4% compared to a 2% fall in September. Outputs for fabricated metal products edged down by 0.1% against a prior 2.6% decline, while transport equipment decreased by 0.2%, following a substantial 5.5% drop previously. Additionally, furniture and miscellaneous manufacturing showed a smaller decrease of 0.4% compared to September's 1.4%. However, there was a notable rebound in the production of food, beverages, and tobacco, which rose by 0.1% after a 1.2% fall, and the repair and installation of machinery, which increased significantly by 2.2% compared to a 1% decline in the preceding month. On a year-over-year basis, the manufacturing output climbed 2.3% in October, succeeding an upwardly revised 2.9% increase in September.
