France Industrial Output Rises 0.2% in October

In October 2025, France's industrial production saw a modest increase of 0.2% from the previous month, a slight deceleration from the revised 0.7% increase recorded in September. This performance surpassed market forecasts, which had anticipated a 0.3% decline. Manufacturing output, however, saw a minor contraction of 0.1%, swinging from a 0.9% rise in the prior month. This downturn was largely attributed to a 2.2% decrease in the production of machinery and equipment goods, following a 1.1% increase in September. Additionally, growth in the food and beverages sector slowed to 0.1%, down from 0.3%, while transport equipment growth also eased to 0.1%, compared to a robust 5.3% previously. Conversely, production in the mining, quarrying, energy, and water supply sectors experienced a significant rise of 1.8%, rebounding from stagnant growth in September. Over the three months ending in October, industrial activity increased by 0.6% compared to the preceding three-month period, and year-on-year production climbed by 1.1%. Meanwhile, the construction sector continued to experience a downturn, though the rate of decline lessened from a 1.3% drop to 0.6%.
