Luxembourg Inflation Rate Picks Up to Over 1-1/2-Year High

Inflation in Luxembourg accelerated to 3% in November 2025, marking the highest increase since March 2024, up from a previous rate of 2.7%. This surge was driven by elevated costs in several sectors: housing and utilities saw a rise to 7.44% from 6.54% in October, education remained unchanged at 6.17%, recreation and culture showed a slight decline to 3.95% from 4.04%, food and non-alcoholic beverages increased to 2.78% from 2.29%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco went up to 2.34% from 1.68%, transportation recorded an increase to 2.26% from 1.73%, and furnishings along with household equipment climbed to 1.52% from 0.57%. Conversely, prices in the communications sector fell further to -2.45% compared to -2.11%, and clothing and footwear decreased to -0.18% after a previous increase of 1.20%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a decrease of 0.2% in November, maintaining the same downward trend as observed in the preceding month.
