ADB Revises Up 2025 Asia-Pacific GDP Forecast to 5.1%

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has adjusted its GDP growth predictions for developing countries in Asia and the Pacific, influenced by heightened demand for products from the region's technologically advanced economies and India's unexpectedly robust growth. For 2025, the ADB now envisages a growth rate of 5.1%, revised from the 4.8% predicted in September. This projection surpasses the initial 4.9% estimate outlined in April in the Asian Development Outlook. Additionally, the 2026 growth forecast for the region has been slightly increased to 4.6% from 4.5%, due to diminished trade uncertainties following several U.S. trade agreements. The ADB's analysis encompasses 46 economies, including China, India, Georgia, and Samoa, but excludes Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. China's 2025 growth expectation has been moderately increased to 4.8% from 4.7%, though it still falls short of Beijing's 5.0% target. The 2026 projection remains at 4.3%, indicating persistent challenges in China's real estate sector.
