In November 2025, Egypt experienced a slight decrease in its annual urban inflation rate, which fell to 12.3%, compared to October's three-month peak of 12.5%, and was also below the anticipated 13.1% forecast by the market. This moderation was chiefly attributed to more modest price hikes in sectors such as food (rising 0.7% compared to 1.5% in October), clothing (14.9% vs 15.7%), and communications (11.7% vs 11.9%). The cost of furnishings remained steady at 12.4%. However, there was an acceleration in housing (27.9% vs 27.1%) and transportation costs (28.9% vs 26.0%), fueled by increased fuel prices and a new regulation permitting landlords to elevate rent levels. On October 17, the government implemented a substantial nearly 13% hike in a variety of fuel prices. Prices in the categories of restaurants and hotels surged to 13.4% from 12.5%, and miscellaneous goods and services increased to 11.3% from 11.0% in November. On a monthly scale, the consumer price index (CPI) saw a 0.3% rise in November, a significant reduction from the previous month's 1.8% climb, marking the mildest monthly rise observed in the past four months.
