Sweden Industrial Output Growth Slows Sharply

In October 2025, Sweden experienced a 5.9% year-on-year increase in industrial production, marking a significant deceleration from the revised 14.6% surge recorded in September. This slowdown was predominantly influenced by a notable decline in manufacturing output, which rose 5.6% compared to September's 14.2%. The downturn was observed across various key sectors, including food products, beverages, and tobacco, which contracted by 3.7% against a previous decrease of 2.1%, textiles, clothing, and leather, declining by 5.3% from 6.4%, and wood and wood products, which dropped by 2.4% compared to 1.5%. Additionally, the growth rate in mining and quarrying slowed to 14.1% from 14.4%, due to decreased output in other mining activities and in service firms that support the mining industry, which grew by 3% against 4.7%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the overall industrial activity decreased by 6.6%, reversing the previously revised 5% increase from September.
