In October 2025, the UK construction sector saw a year-on-year output increase of 0.9%. This represented a deceleration from the 1.3% growth recorded in September and fell short of market forecasts, which anticipated a 1.6% rise. Despite this being the 15th consecutive month of growth, it was the slowest rate since January. The pace of new work expansion slowed (to 1.9%, down from 2.5% in September), and there was a continued decline in repair and maintenance activities (-0.6%, compared to -0.5% previously). On a monthly basis, the construction output decreased by 0.6%, reversing the 0.2% growth experienced in September. This decline was seen in both new work (-0.7%) and repair and maintenance (-0.6%). Over the three-month period leading to October, the total construction output experienced a slight decline of 0.3%, with repair and maintenance slipping by 0.1%, though new work saw a marginal increase of 0.1%.
