AIB Ireland Manufacturing PMI Dips Slightly to 52.2 in December

In its latest report, AIB disclosed a slight dip in Ireland’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for December. The PMI, a key economic indicator that measures the health of the manufacturing sector, declined from 52.8 in November to 52.2 in December 2025. This data, released on January 2, 2026, reflects a minor contraction in the growth rate of the sector.

The Manufacturing PMI, though a tad lower than the previous month, still remains above the 50.0 threshold, signifying expansion, albeit at a slower pace. This deceleration might indicate mounting pressures such as supply chain disruptions or changing demand dynamics impacting the Irish manufacturing landscape.

Economists and industry stakeholders will be keenly observing if this trend continues into 2026, especially given the global uncertainties that continue to loom. The Irish government, along with manufacturing leaders, may need to strategize to ensure sustainable growth in this vital sector.
