Eurozone Retail Sales Edge Higher in November

In November 2025, retail sales within the Eurozone experienced a modest increase of 0.2% compared to the previous month. This growth comes after an upward revision of October's figures to a 0.3% rise, and it slightly exceeded market forecasts, which anticipated a 0.1% uptick. The primary driver behind this expansion was the sales of non-food products, which grew by 0.4% for the second consecutive month. Meanwhile, sales in categories such as food, beverages, and tobacco saw a decline of 0.2%, reversing a 0.5% increase from the prior month, and fuel sales decreased by 0.1% after previously rising by 0.4%. Among the Eurozone’s largest economies, Spain (1.0%), France (0.5%), the Netherlands (0.6%), and Italy (0.3%) all recorded gains in retail trade, which helped to counterbalance the 0.6% decline observed in Germany. On an annual scale, the growth rate of Eurozone retail sales accelerated to 2.3% in November, rising from a revised 1.9% in October and comfortably surpassing market expectations of 1.6%.
