In December 2025, Mexican auto exports experienced a significant downturn, plummeting by 14.6% to 227,262 units. This steep decline, the most pronounced since 2021, followed a 3.5% drop in previous months. The downturn can be attributed to tariffs imposed by the US government on Mexican automobiles and parts, which play a pivotal role in the production chains of global car brands targeting the US market. Among the impacted manufacturers, Nissan saw a 47.7% decrease to 18,542 units, General Motors fell by 26.5% to 49,759 units, and Honda experienced a 45.5% decline to 10,216 units. Over the entire year, Mexican auto exports contracted by 2.68%.
