In November 2025, China's urban youth unemployment rate for individuals aged 16 to 24, excluding students, decreased to 16.5%, down from 16.9% the month prior. This decline marks the lowest level since June, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday. This improvement indicates a tentative stabilization in the job market amid a gradual economic recovery, buoyed by robust activity in the services sector and targeted policy initiatives to bolster employment. In comparison, the unemployment rate for those aged 25 to 29, excluding college students, fell to 6.9% from 7.2%. However, joblessness for the 30 to 59 age group slightly increased to 3.9% from 3.8% in November. Additionally, earlier data revealed that the country's surveyed unemployment rate remained steady at 5.1% in December, unchanged for the second straight month, maintaining its lowest rate in four months. Throughout 2025, the average urban unemployment rate was 5.2%.
