Turkey Business Confidence Highest in 9 Months

Turkey's manufacturing industry confidence index experienced an uptick, reaching 101.6 in January 2026, a rise from December's 100.8. This signals a subtle enhancement in the sector's overall sentiment, marking the most optimistic reading since April. This improvement is largely driven by heightened production and demand expectations, evidenced by the anticipated rise in output volume for the forthcoming three months, from 110.0 to 111.4. Prospects for employment have also seen a boost, increasing to 102.6 from the prior 101.4.

Mixed assessments were observed in order books: the volume of current orders remained weak, slightly declining from 86.3 to 86.1. However, there was a positive shift in future outlooks, with expectations for total orders in the next three months climbing to 102.1 from 100.8, and export orders experiencing a minor decline from 110.0 to 107.8. Additionally, firms reported a higher stock of finished goods, which rose to 100.5 from 99.4, indicating decreasing inventory pressures. Sentiment regarding fixed investment expenditure showed a noticeable strengthening, increasing to 107.8 from 105.6, while perceptions of the overall business environment improved, moving up to 94.1 from 92.9.
