Danish Business Confidence Rises to 5-Month High

In January 2026, Denmark's manufacturing confidence indicator increased to 93.1 from 90.6 the previous month. Although this is the highest level since August, it remains significantly below the long-term average of 100. Notably, employment prospects turned positive for the first time in five months, rising to 2 from -15 in December. However, production expectations experienced a downturn, declining to 2 from 8. In a broader context, the composite business confidence indicator, encompassing manufacturing, construction, retail, and services sectors, saw a slight decline to 102.3 from 102.4 in December. Confidence levels showed improvement in the construction sector, rising to 101.7 from 101.3, and in retail, which climbed to 107.2 from 104.2. Conversely, confidence in the services sector decreased to 104.8 from 106.8.
