Retail sales in Lithuania experienced a 2.4% year-on-year increase in December 2025, which marks a decline from the revised 3.5% growth noted in the previous month. This rate of growth is the smallest since May, largely due to a slowdown in non-food sales, which grew by 7.2% compared to November's 8.2% increase, and a sharper fall in automotive fuel sales, which decreased by 7.7% compared to a 3.9% decline previously. Within the non-food category, there was a significant deceleration in sales of information and communication technology equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods in specialty stores, which fell to 1.4% from 5.3%. Similarly, sales of audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting in specialty stores slowed to 1.6% from 2.8%. Meanwhile, the sales of food, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco continued to rise, from 1.5% to 1.9%. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales increased by 0.4% in December, following an upward revision to a 0.9% gain in November. Overall, retail sales for the entirety of 2025 were 3.5% higher than those in 2024.
