In December 2025, Brazil experienced a 1.8% month-on-month increase in its total stock of outstanding loans, reaching R$7.1 trillion. This follows a 0.9% growth observed in November. Within the corporate sector, credit rose by 3.3%, amounting to R$2.70 trillion, while credit extended to households increased by 1.8%, reaching R$4.42 trillion. When evaluated on a year-by-year basis, the balance of credit operations saw a 10.2% growth, representing a slowdown compared to 2024 when the growth was at 11.5%. This deceleration in 2025 was noted across both segments. Corporate credit grew by 8.1%, down from 9.9% in 2024, while household lending witnessed an 11.6% increase, slightly lower than the 12.6% rise observed the previous year.
