In January 2026, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.7%, reflecting no change from the revised figure for December 2025. The number of unemployed individuals saw a slight increase of 600 from the previous month, bringing the total to 138,400. Analyzing by gender, the unemployment rate for men remained consistent at 4.8%, while for women, it stayed at 4.5%. Looking at age demographics, the youth unemployment rate (ages 15–24) edged up to 11.8%, compared to 11.4% in December. Conversely, for those aged 25–74, the rate decreased slightly to 3.6% from 3.7%. By contrast, in January 2025, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was noted to be lower at 4.5%.
