Tunisia Inflation Rate at Near 5-Year Low of 4.8%

Tunisia's inflation rate decreased to 4.8% in January 2025, marking its lowest level since March 2021. This decline follows a period of three consecutive months where the rate held steady at 4.9%. The reduction in inflation is largely attributed to slower growth in the prices of various sectors. Specifically, food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a price increase of 5.9%, down from 6.1% in December. Similarly, the costs associated with restaurants and hotels rose by 5.5%, a decrease from the previous 6%. The miscellaneous goods and services category experienced a growth of 5.6%, compared to 5.8% earlier. Health-related expenses grew by 3%, down from 3.7%, while transportation costs increased by 2.6%, compared to 2.8% in the previous period. On a monthly scale, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.3% in January, following a 0.2% rise in the previous month.
