In January 2026, motorbike sales in Indonesia experienced a 3.1% year-on-year increase, reaching a three-month peak of 577,763 units. This growth occurred despite a notable deceleration from December's 14.5% uptick. It represented the sixth consecutive month of annual growth, bolstered by a total 150 basis-point reduction in interest rates executed by the central bank since September 2024, coupled with strategic governmental initiatives to stimulate domestic demand. In the previous year, motorbike sales increased by 1.3% from 2024, reaching a total of 6.4 million units. Although this growth rate saw a slight reduction from the 1.5% rise the year prior, it still fell within the target range of 6.4 to 6.7 million units set by the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI). On a monthly basis, sales saw a significant recovery in January, jumping 25.08%, reversing the 11.7% decline noted in November.
