FX.co ★ Rwanda Inflation Rate Quickens to 7-Month High

Rwanda’s annual inflation rate accelerated for the second consecutive month, reaching 7.5% in January 2026—its highest level in seven months—up from 5.2% in December. The key food and non-alcoholic beverages index rose by 5.3%, after a 1.0% increase in the previous month. Prices also remained markedly higher across several major CPI components, including health (63.5% vs 63.6% previously), restaurants and hotels (18.2% vs 16.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (14.9% vs 15.1%), education (10.5%, unchanged), transport (7.2% vs 7.8%) and housing and utilities (5.9% vs 4.9%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index increased by 0.6% in January, following a decline of the same magnitude in December.
