FX.co ★ Romania Producer Inflation at 3-Month High

Romania’s annual producer inflation accelerated to 7.81% year-on-year in January 2026, up from a downwardly revised 5.81% in December. This was the highest rate since October, driven mainly by faster price growth in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (19.38% vs 10.32% in December 2025), as well as in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (12.98% vs 11.32%).

By contrast, inflation moderated in the manufacturing sector (3.75% vs 4.43%), and prices in mining and quarrying declined after previously rising (-0.31% vs 1.43%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 2.15% in January 2026, compared with a 0.35% gain in the prior month.
