Swiss Consumer Prices Rise 0.1% in February

Consumer prices in Switzerland rose by 0.1% year-on-year in February 2026, confounding market expectations of a 0.1% decline and matching the annual rate recorded in each of the previous two months.

On a sectoral basis, prices continued to fall for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.3% vs -0.4% in January), clothing and footwear (-1.2% vs -0.9%), transport (-1.8% vs -2.0%), household goods and services (-1.3% vs -1.3%), and information and communication (-0.3% vs 0.0%).

Inflation eased for housing and energy (0.7% vs 0.8%), recreation, sport, and culture (1.2% vs 1.6%), and other goods and services (0.2% vs 0.8%). By contrast, prices accelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.5% vs 1.9%), while the pace of price growth remained unchanged in education (2.6%).

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.6%, rebounding from a 0.1% decline in January.
