Spain’s annual inflation rate held at 2.3% in February 2026, a seven-month low, matching the preliminary estimate and remaining unchanged from January. Softer price growth in housing and utilities (1.9% vs 2.7% in January), driven largely by a marked slowdown in electricity prices (0.3% vs 3.7%), helped counterbalance stronger increases in other categories. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages accelerated (3.2% vs 3%), as did those for restaurants and hotels (4.8% vs 4.5%), while transportation costs edged higher (0.1% vs -0.1%). Meanwhile, core inflation—which excludes volatile components such as food and energy—rose slightly to 2.7% in February, its highest level since August 2024, up from 2.6% in the previous month.
