South Korea’s Producer Inflation Eases Slightly in February, PPI Growth Slows to 0.6% MoM

South Korea’s producer price inflation edged lower in February 2026, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) rising 0.6% month-over-month, down from a 0.7% increase in January. The latest data, updated on 23 March 2026, indicate a modest deceleration in upstream price pressures compared with the start of the year.

On a month-over-month basis, the February figure reflects a slower pace of price gains than in January, when producer prices rose 0.7% versus December 2025. The comparison framework shows that while producer prices are still climbing, the marginal easing suggests some stabilization in cost pressures faced by South Korean producers.

This slight cooling in PPI may be watched closely by analysts and policymakers as a leading indicator for future consumer inflation trends, given that producer prices often filter through to retail prices with a lag. For now, the data point to continued, but moderating, cost growth in the country’s production sector on a monthly basis.
