The number of registered jobseekers in France has inched up since the start of the year, rising from 3,090.5K in January 2026 to 3,108.2K as of 27 March 2026. The latest reading points to a modest increase in labour market slack over the first quarter of the year.

While the uptick of 17.7K jobseekers indicates some deterioration in conditions for job hunters, the change is relatively limited in scale. Still, the move higher in total jobseekers will be closely watched by policymakers and market participants for any signs that underlying economic momentum in France is weakening or that hiring demand is cooling as 2026 progresses.
