Austria’s producer prices fell by 1.4% year-on-year in February 2026, matching the pace recorded in January and marking the eleventh consecutive month of producer price deflation. The decline was again driven mainly by lower energy prices, which dropped 6.1% (after a 6.0% decrease in January). Price growth for consumer goods eased slightly to 1.0% from 1.1%, while prices for intermediate goods held steady, rising 0.4% year-on-year. In contrast, capital goods prices increased by 0.2%, following a 0.1% decline in the previous month. On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.1%, the same rate as in January, as higher prices for basic metals (+0.7%) and for motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (+0.7%) partially offset lower prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-1.0%) and for food products (-0.3%).
